Business Spanish lessons online, one-on-one with a native teacher

For executives, managers and professionals who need Spanish that works in meetings, with teams in Latin America and Spain, and in the conversations that happen after the meeting. Private lessons by video call from Antigua Guatemala, since 2010.

What we work on

  • Spanish for meetings, presentations and negotiation
  • Leading and working with Spanish-speaking teams
  • Pronunciation and a clear, neutral accent
  • Grammar that holds up under pressure
  • Everyday conversation: dinners, travel, relocation
Method

Reading, writing, listening and speaking. From the first lesson.

Every student learns differently, and a busy professional has very specific needs: limited time, clear goals, and real situations coming up next week. That is why every lesson is one-on-one and built around you. Whatever your level, we always combine the four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

We speak Spanish from the first lesson. Do not be scared: we are a team, and I guide you through verbs, vocabulary, comprehension, grammar and pronunciation at the pace you can handle. If you only speak in the present tense, I speak in the present tense too.

We work with the material you actually use: the agenda of your next meeting, an email you need to send, the news in your industry, a presentation you have to give. And we laugh. Humor is part of every lesson, because that is how a language stops being a subject and becomes a tool.

Format and hours

Fifty minutes, one-on-one, when your calendar allows

Lessons are by video call, from your office, your home or wherever you are. Each one is 50 minutes. Most students take two or three a week; one a week also works if you practice between lessons.

I teach on weekdays between 10 am and 7 pm US Eastern (7 am – 4 pm Pacific). For students in Europe, that is late afternoon and evening: 4 pm to midnight in Central Europe, 3 pm to 11 pm in the UK.

What you need

  • A computer or tablet with Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams
  • A headset with a microphone
  • A webcam
  • Fifty minutes you will not be interrupted

Between lessons I send you short exercises and material to keep the Spanish moving. How much depends on the time you have.

Levels

From your first words to the subjunctive

We start exactly where you are. If you speak at a basic level, the lesson happens at that level and you leave feeling capable, not lost. If you already work in Spanish, we go straight to what still gets in your way: nuance, speed, register, the structures that make you sound fluent rather than correct.

  1. Beginner

    2 verb tenses

Speak and understand the basic structures, apply them to real situations and build good pronunciation habits from day one.

  2. Intermediate A

    5 verb tenses

Understand and use the main structures in writing and in conversation, and start handling a meeting in Spanish.

  3. Intermediate B

    More verb forms

Consolidate what you already know, widen your range of verb forms and improve comprehension at natural speed.

  4. Advanced

All verb forms and the subjunctive

Master every verb form, use the subjunctive naturally, and handle the complex structures that negotiation and persuasion require.

  • Lessons are paid in advance for the upcoming week or month.
  • Please start on time. I wait 10 minutes; after that the lesson counts as given.

Questions

Before your first lesson

If your question is not here, write to me. I answer every message myself.

Do you teach business Spanish specifically?

Yes. Most of my students are professionals who need Spanish for work: leading teams in Latin America, meetings and presentations, relocation, or growing into a role that requires it. We build the lessons around the situations you actually face, and we also cover the everyday Spanish those situations come wrapped in.

How long is a lesson, and how many should I take?

Each lesson is 50 minutes. One lesson per week is $40 USD; two or more per week are $35 USD each. Two or three a week is where most students see fast progress.

What hours do you teach?

Weekdays, 10 am to 7 pm US Eastern (7 am to 4 pm Pacific). For Europe, that is 4 pm to midnight in Central Europe and 3 pm to 11 pm in the UK.

I am a complete beginner. Can I start?

Yes. Lessons are open to beginner, intermediate and advanced students. If you only speak in the present tense, I speak in the present tense too. It is never too late to start.

Is there a trial lesson?

No. Every lesson is a real lesson, planned for you, and the first one is where we set your level and your goals. If after it you decide it is not for you, you simply do not book the next one.

What do I need?
  • A computer or tablet with Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams
  • A headset with a microphone
  • A webcam
How do I pay?

In advance, for the upcoming week or month of lessons. I will send you the details when we agree on a schedule.

What if I am late or need to reschedule?

I wait 10 minutes; after that the lesson counts as given. To reschedule, let me know at least 48 hours in advance and we find another time.

Do you teach in person in Antigua?

No. I live in Antigua Guatemala, but all my lessons are online, which is what lets me teach students across the United States and Europe.

¿Empezamos?

Tell me where you need Spanish, and I will tell you how we get there. I answer every message myself.
